While in Chemnitz, Matthias Küntzel pointed out the role of the woman in the world of Hamas, the soon-to-rule party in the PA territories. Well, you can't say these people do not deem women important. Just read article 17 of the Hamas Covenant:

The Moslem woman has a role no less important than that of the moslem man in the battle of liberation. She is the maker of men.
