Great Moments in Sports History

For those of you who have been wondering about this blog's "inexplicable preference for Alemannia Aachen" - it's (almost) all in the below picture.

Meet Stefan Blank after scoring one of the most beautiful goals in soccer history (a video of it can be viewed and downloaded here) - against Bavaria Munich on that memorable day in the February of 2004:

Okay, I agree that we have a common enemy there. Maybe it's not just coincidence that Bayern played a friendly match at Teheran only a few days ago -- they're a centrepiece of the axis of evil!

Actually, my sense of joy does not derive from hostility towards Bayern - but rather from my deeply felt respect for Germany's best and most successful soccer club. To beat the best - that's the ultimate achievement!
